Programs Description:

The Family Foundation School is a coed emotional growth boarding school The Family Foundation School is an emotional growth boarding school registered by the New York State Board of Regents and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. We offer college preparatory education to students in grades 7-12 who have suffered some form of arrested development during adolescence. Our school offers college classes on campus and the widest range of extra-curricular activities. 100% of our students are accepted to the colleges of their choice.

Our mission is to bring students through the difficulties of their teenage years and guide them toward responsible adulthood. Our students have disobeyed rules and defied parents. Many are in academic trouble; some have legal issues or are on probation. Other difficulties and behaviors may include tantrums, self-destructive actions, ADHD, eating disorders, anger, and drug and alcohol problems.

We believe a strong personal value system is necessary for maintaining a responsible, moral, and mature lifestyle. At The Family Foundation School, this morality has its philosophical roots in the principles of 12-step, self-help programs. These programs requite the development and maintenance of a relationship with a Higher Power, responsibility for one’s actions, frequent examinations of conscience, and service and charity to a larger community. We reinforce these ideas with challenging academic curriculum, positive peer pressure, a structured schedule, strong emphasis on discipline, and group and family therapy.

Tuition, room, and board cost $4300 per month. There are no application or orientation fees. A $4610 security is due on admission. Special activities, including educational field trips and SAT-prep courses, may add $600 to $1000 per year.
